Tranquilty In The Gardens- Kona Kai Resort

Looking for romantic getaway, look no further than Kona Kai’s exclusive adult only resort. The property was the vision of of a couple of retired television executives who left the hustle and bustle of the big apple in the ‘1980’s.  They are avid gardeners, world travelers and art collectors. Kona Kai is where they created their own personal paradise.

The property boasts lush tropical gardens, an art gallery, wooden boardwalks, water features, a private pool, tennis court and secluded sandy beach.

The property is located at mile marker 97 in Key Largo. Drive slowly, or you are apt to miss the understated entrance that looks more like a private drive than a luxury resort. Turn onto the driveway of brick pavers and park next to the tennis court.  Make your way under the canopy of palms and over the quaint wooden footbridge into the gardens.

Folllow the signs to the office. Check-in is seamless, and you’ll be escorted to your own private spacious and airy bungalow. Hidden by lush landscaping, these beautiful rooms feel more like a small home. They have four poster beds, large spa like bathrooms, Bahama shuttered windows and substantial furnishings.

You’ll be tempted to just fall back on the bed and call it a night, but equally curious to explore the property.  Tucked around every corner, lies a new surprise. Take one turn and you’ll find a staircase that leads to a private elevated pool, another turn and you’ll find an art gallery, keep going and the canopy thins as you arrive at a pristine white sand beach overlooking the Gulf of Mexico.

The resort feels so private and secluded that you may not want to leave – and that’s possible too. Guests are encouraged to do just that. The front desk concierge can assist you with ordering everything from a gourmet take-out dinner  to a personal yoga session or in-suite couples massage.

Kick back, play a game of tennis, paddle board the bay, get a relaxing massage, sit by the bay with a good glass of wine and watch the sun go down, take a moonlight dip in the cool pool. If this sounds like your kind of vacation, then Kona Kai may become your own secret getaway spot.
